Donate to the Red Oak Victory

Your support matters.

The Red Oak Victory Ship is an important part of our nation's story as we struggled against tyranny and conquest. Serving on the front lines of history, this ship participated in WWII as an ammunition ship providing crucial ordinance to our brave soldiers, Marines and seamen. After WWII, it served as a Merchant Marine ship and made voyages in support of humanitarian efforts and supply duties during the Viet Nam war. The Red Oak Victory was decommissioned in 1946.

Today, Red Oak Victory is the last remaining ship built at the Kaiser Ship Yard in Richmond, California, and the only one returned to her original home port in Richmond. For 28 years, the museum has welcomed visitors, hosted students, honored veterans and their families, and served as a unique place for education, remembrance, and community events.

There are many ways you can make a tax-wise contribution to our efforts to completely restore the Red Oak Victory Ship. Please consider:

  • Making a cash donation either online or by check mailed to:

  • Doubling or tripling your donation through your employer's matching gift program. Check with the Human Resources Department for details.
  • Transferring appreciated stock held at least one year.
  • Including the Red Oak Victory Ship Museum as a beneficiary in your will or estate plan.
  • Designating the Red Oak Victory Ship Museum as a partial or full beneficiary of your IRA and/or Roth plans.
  • Donating an unneeded car, truck, motorcycle, boat, RV or trailer.
  • Considering a contribution of crypto currency.
  • Conveying real estate, artwork or valuable physical assets that will be liquidated for cash value by the Museum.
  • Making a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). If you are age 70½ or older, you can donate up to $110,000 annually from your IRA directly to the Red Oak Victory Ship Museum. A QCD may provide significant tax advantages and can count toward satisfying your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD). Please consult your tax advisor to determine the benefits for your individual situation.
  • Donating through your Donor Advised Fund.
