Visiting Red Oak Victory
We like to say that visitors to our ship arrive curious and leave in awe because there is so much to learn and discover here. You can visit the Red Oak Victory as a day visitor or you can come to one of our special events. As a day visitor you can choose to go at your own pace on a self-guided tour or join with a group of other visitors for an in-depth study of the ship guided by one of our knowledgeable docents. There is no need to make reservations for small groups but for groups of five or more we do ask that you make arrangements ahead of time by emailing us at info@redoakvictory.us.
For our upcoming special events, click on the Events page for schedules, more information, and ticket links.

Directions and parking
Please note that many map services do not show the correct location by mailing address. Red Oak Victory is at 1337 Canal Blvd., Berth 5, Richmond, CA, directly across from Riggers Loft Wine Company.
Coordinates: Latitude 37.904791622, Longitude -122.36429328. If your map app places you somewhere else on Canal Boulevard, use the berth guidance and look for the ship across from Riggers Loft Wine Company.
From I-580 in Richmond: Exit on Canal Blvd and head south. Follow Red Oak Victory signs to the end of the road. Park between the chain-link fence and the large bunker-like building on the left. Additional parking is available behind the bunker building. From there, follow the signs to board the ship.
Detailed directions between I-580 and Red Oak Victory: Continue south on Canal Blvd through the light at Cutting Blvd and over the railroad tracks. After about 0.7 miles, continue straight through the stop at Seacliff and then through the next stop about 0.3 miles later. Just before the second stop, pass under the "Point Potrero" archway where Red Oak Victory signs begin. About 0.2 miles later, follow the oblique right turn at the Red Oak Victory sign (going straight leads to a locked/guarded port gate). Drive around the large fenced parking lot, continue through the stop signs on the loop road, and turn into the ship parking area on the right near the final stop sign.
Preparing for your visit
To help ensure a safe and comfortable visit, please come prepared for a real working ship environment and follow crew instructions and posted signage at all times.
- Wear practical shoes:Running shoes, boat shoes, or work boots are recommended. Please do not wear open-toed shoes or sandals while touring the ship.
- Dress for the waterfront:Bring a light jacket because the ship can be windy and cold even when inland East Bay weather is hot. Long pants are also recommended for comfort and safety.
- Boarding and access:Visitors must climb the gangway to board the ship. Depending on the tour or event, you may also need to climb and descend multiple flights of shipboard stairs or ladders.
- Stay in visitor areas:Obey all "Crew Only" and "No Admittance" signs, and do not enter restricted or unfamiliar areas without a crew escort.
- Move carefully:Maintain three points of contact when using stairs or ladders, and watch for overhead projections, fittings, and trip hazards, especially below decks.
Emergency Signals
- Injured person:Do not move the injured person. Notify a crew member immediately, and call 911 if the situation appears serious.
- Fire or emergency:A continuous ringing of the ship's bell or general alarm signals a fire or emergency. Find a crew member and follow instructions right away.
- Abandon ship:Seven short blasts and one long blast mean go topside, leave your belongings behind, and follow crew directions.
- Man overboard:Three long blasts mean keep visual contact with the person, shout "Man overboard," and do not look away until crew take over.
- Dismissal of emergency:One short blast signals that the emergency has been cleared.
