Help restore the Red Oak Victory this August—donate today!
The Red Oak Victory is partnering with Rosie the Riveter Trust and the Boilermakers Union Local 549 to begin the first phase of renovation and revival of the last surviving ship built in the Kaiser Shipyards during World War II by workers including the women who inspired the icon, Rosie the Riveter. The Red Oak Victory last entered the shipyard for a complete overhaul in 2011. Weather and time has taken a toll on the deck and superstructure. Restoration and repair work will begin on August 17th.
This will be a two-week project which will be accomplished by Modern Day Rosies from all over America. The goal is to repair and renovate the deck, masts, tubs, and stack of the Red Oak Victory. The Rosies helped build it and now another generation will renovate it to secure its legacy and future for generations to come. There will be 10 or more Rosies working every day as this is a large project.
Our goal is to raise $125,000 for materials, equipment, paint, supplies, and required upgrades. Your generous contribution and sponsorship will ensure the completion of the first phase of the Victory Ship Revival. We will keep everyone informed of our progress and there will be videos, photos, and media coverage.
How you can help:
There are two ways you can help us achieve our goal:
- Donate money to enable us to purchase supplies or rent equipment needed for the project.
- Donate supplies or temporarily lend us equipment needed to carry out the two-week project. Details on exactly what we need will be coming soon.
