Volunteer on a floating museum! Come join an energetic and dedicated group of volunteers on a 1944 Victory ship in the historic Kaiser Richmond shipyard! The ship is a unique venue for arts, education and private events in the San Francisco Bay Area.

We are looking for greeters, docents, marketers, historians, volunteers in the galley serving breakfast, electricians, deck-hands, event personnel, retailers, volunteer recruiters, painters, engineers, teachers. What talent do you want to share?
Picture this; enjoying the day volunteering on a ship with people like yourself who are interested in making a dream reality and who love history, restoration, giving to their community and supporting an inspiring purpose. From our third deck you can see Richmond Shipyard three and a stellar 360 view of the Bay Area: Tiburon and Angel Island to your right, the City and Alcatraz in front of you, Treasure Island to your left, right beside Oakland, Berkeley and of course our backyard, Richmond! Osprey are nesting in our neighbor the Whirly Crane!
The SS Red Oak Victory is one of three remaining 1944 Victory-class cargo ships built in WWII; we are part of the Richmond Museum Association (RMA), a non-profit organization that relies exclusively on donations from private citizens, foundations and corporations for operating funds. The RMA and Red Oak Victory need your help to continue to carry out our mission of educating about the inspiring local history of Richmond, California.
